I LOOK FORWARD TO GOING TO THE HAMPTONS
BECAUSE I SEE A lot of friends in a more comfortable situation. So many people have such nice places,
from simple to grand. Hedy and Kent Klineman were
some of the first people to invite me to stay, and seeing
them is always great. These days, I usually stay with
Richard and Marcia Mishaan, or Bettina Zilkha, and
get to catch up with them. I always like to stay Sunday
night so I can really spend time with my hostess. When
I visit Elie and Rory Tahari at their beautiful house, I
never leave hungry. They are great hosts.
Seeing the beach for the first time each summer is
always a kick. I enjoy that first walk in Sag Harbor,
going out on someone’s boat, walking around the town
of Southampton, putting on flip-flops for the first
time, going to the beach club for lunch. I love The
Fresh Air Home fundraiser right on the beach. It’s great
to see kids and families enjoying themselves. The
Parrish Art Museum gala is a good one to go to. Linda
Wells often has a really nice party. Nicole Miller and
Kim Taipale host a great dinner. Peggy Siegal’s screenings add glamour and bring out the movie stars. If you
can get invited to Mr. Perelman’s place, you’re lucky.
This year, things might be a little toned down in
the Hamptons—people may entertain a little less
lavishly—but it will still be fun. —PM
